Beim Cloud Computing handelt es sich um die Auslagerung (Outsourcing) eigener IT-Infrastruktur an externe Dienstleister. Lokale Ressourcen in Form von Soft- und Hardware müssen jetzt nicht mehr selbst vollständig vorgehalten werden, verbunden mit fehlender Flexibilität und entsprechenden Kosten, sondern werden über das Internet bereitgestellt und je nach Nutzung abgerechnet.
