Der Preisträger des Deutsche Bank Prize 2009 in Financial Economics heißt Robert J. Shiller. Shiller ist Professor für Wirtschaftswissenschaften an der Yale-Universität und Chefökonom von MacroMarkets LLC. Er hat den Stanley B. Resor -Lehrstuhl für Wirtschaftswissenschaften inne und ist Fellow am internationalen Zentrum für Finanzwissenschaften der Yale University. Sein im Jahr 2000 auf dem Höhepunkt der Aktienhysterie und der New-Economy-Euphorie erschienenes Buch „Irrationaler Überschwang“ (irrational exuberance) ist eine Analyse und ein Erklärungsversuch des Aktienmarktbooms seit 1982.
