Die Prognose der Arbeitsmarktzahlen – einer zentralen, weil politisch sensiblen volkswirtschaftlichen Kennzahl – kann mit einer Reihe von Prognoseverfahren erfolgen: zum Beispiel mit verschiedenen Zeitreihenanalysemethoden oder unter Zuhilfenahme neuer Verfahren, wie neuronaler Netze. Alle Verfahren beinhalten jeweils spezifische Vor- und Nachteile. Das DIW ist mit dem Versuch, Arbeitslosenzahlen anhand von Sucheingaben bei Google prognostisch zu generieren, neue Wege in der Arbeitsmarktforschung gegangen.

Diese Literaturübersicht zeigt verschiedene Prognoseverfahren auf, die wiederum auf unterschiedlichen Länderbeispielen beruhen.

The current economic crisis requires fast information to predict economic behavior early, which is difficult at times of structural changes. This paper suggests an innovative new method of using data on internet activity for that purpose.
